DESCRIPTION
When one of PE’s largest financial planning businesses , South City , moved into their new state of the art premises in Walmer Park, 4Tech Solutions from Port Elizabeth were awarded the contract to supply and install all electronic security and access control provisions for the new building. This would include access control for 50 plus staff, an alarm system, a comprehensive fire detection solution and the latest in CCTV monitoring , all of which needed to meet the high operating standards of the client at the same time compliment the modern and sophisticated design of the new premises.
Impro’s MDR901 reader certainly met the criteria here and was the product of choice for all access and exit points for staff within the building and combined with Impro’s IXP220 software , offered South City management, a sound, easy to manage platform for their access control needs. Whilst offering the highest standards of operation and advanced access control technology, the IXP220’s ease of operation when it comes to the adding and managing of new users and the accuracy of its’ reporting services, means future in-house management of the access control system can be done South City staff.
The Pima HP8144 control panel formed the basis of the installed alarm system and with no less than five RXN-400/410 LCD Keypads , allows South City staff the ability to enjoy simplified partitioning of the various departments without complicating the user’s interaction with the system and via its’ 4 wire bus line technology, made for a cost effective and well planned topography for the 4tech technical staff.
The CCTV system was designed around Hikvision’s range of IP cameras and quality NVR’s , thus allowing for 2 megapixel quality throughout the installation and resulting in footage that offers high quality resolution and useable footage to South City management. A combination of DS – Range indoor mini-domes and outdoor bullet cameras where used throughout the premises, all which offer IR during low light conditions and allow for excellent recording footage even during low lux conditions.
In terms of the fire detection solution , Apollo XP95’s , one SA’s largest selling smoke detectors can be found throughout the South City building , providing the best possible solution for South City’s fire detection needs. Ideal for medium to large commercial installations such as South City , the Apollo XP95 detector offers the installer and client a phenomenal track record of reliability and detection performance.

Pezula Golf Estate , one of South Africa’s most prestigious golfing destinations recently carried out a full upgrade of their access control solution and just like their unwavering commitment to quality and high standards , the new upgrades would need to meet the highest of standards.
Bidvest Protea , headed up by Mr Tyrell Polglase in the Eastern and Southern Cape were awarded the contract to install an access control solution that would incorporate the Hotel, the Homeowners association and the Golf Estate , a significant task. Apart from the integration of all 3 facilities into one centralized admin facility , the vast distances between the various access points and administrative centre would also provide a sizeable challenge , one that would be over come via the use of an optic fibre infrastructure and backbone along with the composition of highly reliable hardware peripherals.
Apart from other internally situated electronic peripherals the success of the installation would be gauged on the quality and reliability of the boom operators and biometric readers , the access perimeter alone would require control of over 10 access roads. After careful consideration, Mr Polglase decided to go with Centurion’s range of boom operators and Sagem’s biometric range of readers to complete the solution , a decision that will see the access control measures at the Pezula Golf Estate compliment the high standards associated with this internationally recognized destination.

When one of PE’s grand ladies underwent a face lift , DM Cabling from Port Elizabeth where contracted to install the latest in CCTV and Access control technology. The newly renovated Tramways building, which now plays host to various expos and markets, required no less than 16 cameras and 3 access points and in keeping with her new lines , the solution not only needed to meet the customers expectation with regards to its operation, the hardware needed to compliment the renovations with its aesthetic appeal.
This objective was achieved when Mr Daruis van Der Mescht , Director at DM Cabling , decided to utilize the Hikvision brand of cameras and an Impro access solution with the latest J-Series range of biometric readers , offering both the required aesthetic appearance along with a simple yet effective solution for the client.

When designing a surveillance system for one of the most recognized schools in the country, a solution that would require more than 200 cameras, co-owner Mark Momsen of Intersec Port Elizabeth
made clear his requirements for quality, reliability and system longevity from the outset. As this came as a significant investment by the school, this installation would require the best VMS software available, a product that had the proven pedigree and recognised international footprint that would ensure both performance and continued development for years to come.
In an industry where technological advancements in camera performance are taking place almost on a monthly basis, significant emphasis was placed on which VMS solution was best positioned to match these developments and continue to incorporate these advancements, allowing the end user to maintain the same software solution well into the future. The obvious choice was Milestone, an open platform solution, able to integrate with over 1000 technology providers such as Axis, Vivotek, Hikvision, Samsung and Flir is in over 150’000 installations worldwide and now is responsible for the management of video from over 200 IP cameras at Grey High School, South Africa.

DESCRIPTION
An intrusion solution which required Control Instruments from Port Elizabeth, to secure the entire hospital premises along with individually protecting approximately fifty doctor’s suites whilst centralizing all communications back to the on-site control room on a reliable and affordable communications backbone. Each suite would require its own arming station and dedicated detectors to both secure the relevant office space and allow for independent arming and disarming control. With standard telephone and radio monitoring not an option for the Netcare facility, Pima HP832 control panel in order to facilitate the multiple partitioning of zones that would be required and at the same time introduce the use of IP/NETWORK reporting for all communication back to the control room. As the head end product of choice, Watchmanager Control Room software was chosen due to its ability to integrate with the Pima network modules and provide Netcare management with concise and accurate reporting, which together with Pima , has combined to bring the latest in alarm monitoring technology to the Eastern Cape.
